Industry applications of Kubernetes and OpenShift Expert Session Summary

Yesterday i got a chance to attend a wonderful session by former LinuxWorld alumns about Kubernetes industry use cases.The session was hosted by 3 industry experts:

• Rushil Sharma: Customer Engineer Hybrid Cloud, Google
• Vijit Kuntal: Cousultant, Infosys Belgium
• Neeraj Bhatt: Senior Technical Engineer — OpenShift, Red Hat

Multiple use industry use cases were discussed in the session like optimizing the availability of limited resources to the best of their ability; securing the kubernetes container architecture and so on.
Some of the topics covered include:

• About DVCS and its edge over CVS in code management.
• Different environment and their respective testing phases like System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT); Chaos Testing.
• Reducing overall cost by optimizing code and devops techniques.
• Increasing security of containers using concepts like SSC and linux namespace in OpenShift.
• Fulfilling client’s demands of custom container environment.
• Terms like cpu usage; cpu leak; cpu limit.

I would like to thank Preeti ma’am for hosting such an insightful session which certainly boosted my confidence and verified that we are in the right path of learning Kubernetes.
